General Purpose of the Position:

Accomplishes company objectives by coating and painting large structural steel assemblies and custom steel fabrication.

Primary Responsibilities: 

1. Ensure all operations set industry standards for safety (by OSHA & EPA standards)
2. Prepare and Set-up/blast with sand, shot, or grit
3. Utilize a variety of spraying devices – airless and air powered sprayers
4. Achieve/maintain consistent DFT
5. Follow SSPC painting practices
6. Apply high build epoxies according to project specifications
7. Clean and maintain associated compressors and spray rigs.
8. Operate all associated paint/compressor equipment including guns, hoppers and collection systems
9. Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
10. Determine paint flow, viscosity and coating quality by performing visual inspections or

by using viscometers

1. Knowledge of thermosetting resin coatings, wash and pretreatments
2. Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with

company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance

1. Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment
2. Load and unload parts or product onto fixtures
3. Good knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment
4. Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment

Required Training and Certifications:

Coating Application Specialist Certification(s) from SSPC are helpful and will be encouraged.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Required 1-3 years of relevant paint experience
