Job Title: Flooring Technician
Job Summary:
As a Flooring Technician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of flooring materials in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Your expertise will contribute to the aesthetic appeal, functionality, and safety of spaces by ensuring proper installation techniques and quality craftsmanship. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
Installation: Install various types of flooring materials such as hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile, carpet, and linoleum according to industry standards and manufacturer specifications.
Preparation: Prepare subfloors by cleaning, leveling, and repairing surfaces to ensure a smooth and stable base for flooring installation.
Measurement and Cutting: Measure and cut flooring materials accurately to fit designated areas, ensuring precise installation and minimal waste.
Adhesive Application: Apply adhesives, sealants, and underlayment materials as necessary to secure flooring materials and enhance durability.
Flooring Repair: Identify and repair damaged flooring materials, including replacing broken tiles, patching hardwood planks, or re-stretching carpet to restore functionality and appearance.
Finishing Touches: Perform finishing touches such as edging, molding, and transitions to create seamless transitions between different flooring materials and enhance the overall appearance of the space.
Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards, addresses any issues promptly, and maintains customer satisfaction.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers to understand their needs, provide recommendations, and address any concerns throughout the flooring installation or repair process.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure optimal performance and prolong their lifespan.
Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in flooring installation and repair, with a demonstrated ability to work with various types of flooring materials.
Knowledge: Familiarity with different flooring materials, installation techniques, adhesives, and tools commonly used in the trade.
Skills: Proficient in accurate measurement, cutting, and installation of flooring materials, along with problem-solving abilities to address challenges during the installation process.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods while performing flooring installation tasks.
Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail to ensure precise installation, seamless transitions, and high-quality craftsmanship.
Communication: Effective communication skills to interact with customers, team members, and supervisors, and provide excellent customer service.
Safety Consciousness: Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment.
Reliability: Dependable and punctual, with the ability to manage time effectively and complete projects within specified deadlines.
Education and Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Vocational training or apprenticeship in flooring installation preferred.
