Position Summary:

The role of an SQL developer is to develop and manage SQL databases by planning, developing, and maintaining the databases. SQL developers use structured query language (SQL) to create and modify database tables using CRUD SQL commands. Responsible for designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance. Work to optimize in-application SQL statements as necessary, and establishing best practices. Help solve all database usage issues and come up with ideas and advice that can help avoid such problems in the future. 

DIRECT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Work with the leadership to analyze the needs of an organization and produce an effective database system according to their needs and specifications. This includes collecting data, analyzing the data, designing algorithms, drawing flowcharts and implementing code for the logic developed through the algorithms and flowcharts. Working with end users to support their business needs through accurate reporting of business information. 
  • Providing technical support to the team.
  • Translate business needs to technical specifications. Development of high-quality database solutions. Designing and implementing database systems and applications using object-oriented programming languages. 
  • Develop SQL databases and write the applications that interface with them. Writing code that is easily maintainable, extensible, and secure. Create custom reports and modify user forms to enhance organizational productivity. 
  • Design, develop, and test database solutions: run performance testing procedures to ensure the proper operations of a database and to ensure that it’s error-free. If any errors are thrown when the code runs, they need to be corrected and the code needs to be re-tested. This involves troubleshooting any potential problems, creating and submitting test reports and database improvement. 
  • Developing database applications using best practices for security, data integrity, data privacy, data integrity, data privacy, data integrity, data quality, data validation, database error detection coding techniques, database error correction techniques.
  • Develop, implement and optimize stored procedures and functions using T-SQL 
  • Review and interpret ongoing business report requirements. Research required data
  • Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables. Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements. Suggest new queries.
  • Develop procedures and scripts for data migration. Create complex functions and stored procedures. Develop database documentation. As a database is developed, the database developer must write documentation about the system and put together an operational manual. The documentation must include information regarding changes or improvements to the database as they are implemented.
  • Developing, deploying, and maintaining BI interfaces, including data visualization tools, data analytics, and reporting software.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with standard database management tools and software, such as Microsoft Access, Oracle Database, and phpMyAdmin
  • Analytical with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Strong organizational skills, keeps timelines and meets deadlines
  • High attention to detail, ensures accuracy in completion of work
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships throughout the organization
  • Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects. 
  •  Ability to work within strict time frames and resolute deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills-oral and written 
  • Ability to work independently
  • Creativity and flexibility are a must. 

Physical Demands:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands with or without accommodations: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Viewing computer monitor and using keyboard for long periods. Lift and push or pull up to 25 pounds. Lift and push or pull up to 10 pounds. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. Work is performed primarily in an office like setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Requirements

BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field with 3 years of experience as a SQL Developer or similar role. SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Analysis Services experience and skill in providing technical documentation, analysis, and instruction to non-technical staff. Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). 3 years of experience in designing and developing relational databases using object-oriented programming languages. Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, Python and similar programming languages. Two years’ experience with designing and deploying reporting tools, maintaining data analytics platforms, and creating databases to store data. Capable of troubleshooting common database issues. Full stack development experience preferred.
