Technical Grade 106Hybrid office environmentTravel to manufacturing locations and customers Summary/PurposeThis position provides technical leadership and expertise in support of bearing design for the automotive market. Primary responsibility is for overall design of ball bearings and taper roller bearings used in powertrain and drivetrain applications such as BEV e-axle and differential gear.Essential Duties and Accountabilities:Design new or apply existing bearing designs to meet customer application and product requirements.Support development, validation testing and launch of new bearing designs.Identify and drive initiatives to continuously improve engineering design standards, engineering efficiency and product performance.Identify and drive initiatives to continuously improve manufacturability and profitability of existing and new designs.Provide engineering support to manufacturing, sales & customers for maintenance of existing production designs.Collect, document, interpret and analyze customer inputs to develop design requirements.Provide technical proposals that include bearing selection, bearing analysis, test planning, and installation recommendations to meet customer requirements.Contributes to testing to confirm designs and design changes meet internal/external requirements.Utilize problem solving tools and data analytics to guide the investigations for post-test bearing damage.Contributes to design reviews with internal/external global teams.Reviews and supports the updates of design (change) requests and examination requests for compliance with internal/external requirements.Review and update new designs to ensure compliance with internal/external requirements.Release drawings and related outputs using JTEKT systems.Demonstrate knowledge of and conformance to internal/external engineering standards and quality systems.Create or modify JTEKT engineering standards as needed.Supervisory Responsibilities:This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Reading and drafting drawings skills.Working knowledge of computer aided design (CAD), word-processing, database and spread sheet programs.Technical writing skillsStrong problem solving a data analytical skill.Strong self-starter, action oriented and results driven.Must be able to support cross functional teams with members from various levels within organizations to achieve common goals.Must be able to work with minimum supervision.Ability to self-prioritize and handle multiple projects.Excellent project and time management skills.Must have strong desire to learn new skills and demonstrate newly learned skills.Global Interpersonal, oral/written communications, and planning/organization skillsHighly self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.Basic knowledge of applicable IATF 16949/ISO 90001 specific procedures and elementsEducation and Experience:Normally requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent technical degree, and a minimum of 5-7 years related experience.
