Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Summary/Purpose
Provide leadership, technical, and professional development guidance for a manufacturing engineering team supporting plant operations and new/modified program implementation.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

• Direct engineering resources to support manufacturing operations 24/7 as required.
• Lead continuous improvement activities for cost reduction in existing programs including:

o scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, gentani, and short stop reduction.
o support plant maintenance for downtime reduction activities.

• Create procedures and instructions as required to support manufacturing operations.
• Direct engineering resources to execute new/modified program implementations from ITO to SOP.
• Participate in new program manufacturing planning reviews.
• Assure faithful execution of APQP procedures from ITO to SOP.
• Assure appropriate liaison with JJP and JATV coordinators.
• Set and maintain departmental goals and objectives (Hoshin) in support of site objectives.
• Perform activities of workers supervised as needed.
• Work daily overtime and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.
• Manage capital planning project for plant 1 and plant 2 including RP3 new model planning
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position is responsible for supervising a department of sal. exempt, sal. non-exempt, and hourly team members.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Supervision experience of professional and technical staff – 3 yrs

• Knowledge of CNC/PLC equipment, tooling and fixturing.
• Automotive manufacturing experience – 3 yrs
• Automated assembly systems experience a plus.
• Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems

The above may be waived by the department Manager and the Human Resources Manager if the candidate is otherwise qualified.
Education and Experience:
BS in Engineering (Mech or Elec preferred)
Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• Sit with intermittent walking
• Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing
• Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone
• Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
• Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week
