Position Title:

Crane Operator

Position Summary:

The Crane Operator will operate the overhead electric traveling crane to lift/move heavy equipment and material.

Education Required:

GED or HS Diploma

Experience:

0-2 Years

Primary Duties:

• Operates a crane in a safe manner to provide service to maintenance and operation personnel.
• Tests equipment including brakes, hoist limits, sirens, lights and crane equipment prior to each operation. Observes personnel and equipment in the area of lifted objects to determine safe movement.
• Sounds siren to warn personnel in path of lifted objects.
• Makes lifts when signaled by maintenance or operation personnel on the grounds.
• Observes the condition of cables and reports any problems (fraying or broken cables) to maintenance.
• Reports any unusual mechanical or electrical conditions to maintenance for correction.
• Completes a daily crane inspection report.
• Responsible for completing any assignments given by supervision, even those assignments that are not specifically listed in this job description.
• Fills out crane inspection report before operating any crane.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate crane with 2 hoist.
• Must know operation of spreader bar with magnets.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Must be trained in the same operation of an EOT Crane.
• Must be able to pass the DOT physical exam for crane operators which include vision tests and medical history.
• Training (a) under a qualified operator and (b) classroom training.
• Field evaluation test by designated operator involved with training employees.
• Must be able to pass the physical exam for crane operators which include vision test and medical history.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
