Job Description:

Job Summary: The Certified Sterile Processing Tech Team Lead guides the team responsible for cleaning, inspecting and sterilizing reusable supplies and instruments with appropriate infection control techniques.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

Acts as a lead to Certified and non-certified Sterile Processing Technicians.
Supervises the productivity and quality of work delivered by team members.
Performs and documents quality control aspects of sterile processing.
Sets goals that will reflect the reduction in the number of item being Flashed Sterilized. Helps to effectively meet the needs of sterile processing that ensure continuity of shift-to-shift tasks and services.
Cleans and decontaminates reusable equipment, instruments, and supplies, manually and mechanically (Hand Washing, Washer/Sterilizer, Ultrasonic Cleaner, Scope Washer, Cart Washer).
Monitors, reads, documents, and interprets all parameters for all types of sterilizers to ensure proper function (ETO, Steam, Steris, and Sterrad).
Anticipates the need of departmental customers by reviewing surgical and clinical schedules in advance.
Maintains records and documentation for all aspects of instrument processing and the sterilization process.
Ensures compliance with standards and regulations of Infection Control, OSHA, TACB, and JCAHO.
Helps to effectively meet the needs of sterile processing that ensure continuity of shift-to-shift tasks and services.
Helps to maintain supplies that are needed for daily function of the Sterile Processing Department.
Teaches and trains new hires and students.
Works independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.
May lead multiple projects and is accountable for ongoing objectives.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Leads staff and provides ongoing support to the department.

Qualifications:


    Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Graduated from an accredited Sterile Processing program
  • Certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) and/ or Certification through the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM).
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
