Job Description:

Description: The Biomedical Equipment Team Lead will provide minimal supervision, direct and coordinate the work of Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Specialists who repair, calibrate, maintain, and perform safety testing of all types of clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems. The Team Lead also enforces departmental policies and procedures. This job will also be responsible for coordinating special projects and performs specialized technical tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, servicing, modification, troubleshooting and calibration of complex integrated diagnostic systems and therapeutic biomedical instrumentation.

Typical Duties:

Coordinates and directs Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Specialists, working in conjunction with the manager to develop work standards.
Coordinates specialized technical tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, servicing, modification, troubleshooting and calibration of complex integrated diagnostic systems and therapeutic biomedical instrumentation. Interprets engineering and vendor information, schematic diagrams, and graphic illustrations utilizing clinical physiologic and electronic principles.
Maintains a systematic preventive maintenance program for complex integrated diagnostic systems and related biomedical instrumentation. Administers engineering and technical counsel on codes to ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and maintains preventive maintenance records and prepares reports as required. Provides technical assistance and instruction to the organizations’ personnel in the maintenance and operation of equipment. Recommends the purchase or acquisition of biomedical instrumentation or related accessories as well as advises supervisory staff of equipment deficiencies and make appropriate recommendations as required.
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers recommended procedures.
Establishes and implement equipment testing procedures and monitors work flow of assignments.
Schedules equipment testing, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
Provide technical counsel to assigned teams.
Collaborates with the manager, develops, administers, and ensures compliance with quality assurance measures, and monitors and enforce Joint Commission accreditation standards and other applicable standards and regulations.
Coordinates daily assignments, and take responsibility for directing, evaluating, mentoring, and motivating all Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Specialists.
Develops, implements, and ensures adherence to the clinical engineering practices and general departmental policies and procedures to improve the efficiency of repair services and operations.
Coordinates, contacts, and evaluates medical equipment service suppliers to resolve problems with equipment operation and arrange for repairs and parts replacement.
Ensures accurate and efficient maintenance of department records and reports.
Maintains professional growth through appropriate training, seminars, workshops, conferences, and related activities.
Provides leadership to personnel and serve as temporary site leader in the absence of the director/manager.

Qualifications:


    Required Education and Experience:
  • Associate Degree in electronic or biomedical equipment technology from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 plus years of experience in medical equipment repair and maintenance.
  • One plus year of supervisory experience.
  • Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in electronic or biomedical equipment technology from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 plus years of experience in medical equipment repair and maintenance.
  • 3 plus years of supervisory experience.
  • Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician through the International Certification Commission (ICC)or the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
