Job Description:

Description: The Behavioral Health Social Services Team Lead holds professional accountability for social services and activity therapy staff. The Behavioral Health Social Services Team Lead is under the direct supervision of the Manager of Psychiatric Social Services and general supervision of the Director of Social Services. The Behavioral Health Social Services Team Lead is responsible for providing services to assigned patients, which includes assessments. Other duties include educational and team lead responsibilities. The Behavioral Health Social Services Team Lead is also required to provide an active, ongoing program of performance improvement within the department. Maintains a positive, collaborative relationship with other departments within the hospital District.

Typical Duties:

Conducts behavioral/mental health assessments, development, implementation and evaluation of services for assigned patients.
Collaborates one-on-one, in huddles, and/or team meetings with Providers and staff focusing on identifying needs, developing a plan of care and assisting with care coordination of complex high risk patients.
Ensures clinical services are adequately, completely, and competently staffed in accordance with budgeted plan. Ensures staff are appropriately trained and supervised.
Coordinates service delivery of groups, therapeutic interventions, and assures safe and efficient functioning for all units.
Facilitates resolution of problems in collaboration with Behavioral Health Service Line Administrator, Executive Director of Psychiatry, medical staff, other hospital departments, and Clinical Managers as appropriate.
Ensures clinical services provided adhere to legal and regulatory compliance requirements. Considers and ensures department meets licensure/certification within specified timelines, mandates training, and monitors the continuum of professional growth requirements for all staff.
Collaborates with Clinical Managers by providing data, feedback, and recommendations regarding operation, review, and adherence to the program operating and capital budgets for unit programs.
Makes recommendations for budget revisions based on identified needs.
Participates in the Performance Improvement activities to improve patient outcomes.
Develops and implements special projects as indicated.
Supports staff through mentoring and acting as a resource.
Facilitates interdepartmental problem solving in complex patient care issues.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


    Required Education and Experience:
  • Master’s in Social Work or Professional Counseling.
  • 2 plus years’ professional social work experience working with Behavioral Health/mental health patients in a healthcare, therapeutic, physician, and/or other clinical practice setting.
  • Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Must have a current licensure in one of the following: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners or the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in orientation and maintained throughout employment.
  • Basic Life Safety Certification (BLSC) required but may be obtained subsequent to hire.
  • Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 1 plus years of experience leading, supervising, and/or managing experience.
  • Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
