The Product Automation Test Manager is a critical leadership position, responsible for partnering with Product Owners and Technologists to develop, deliver and support Home Lending Products’ automation strategic priorities and the tactical automation build/execution of end-to-end testing across a diverse application suite, ensuring the right end-to-end Quality vision is in place. 

The Product Automation Manager is charged with providing thought leadership and executing on quality tooling and practices. Responsible for defining a robust end-to-end automation framework across each Product Team, this leader will manage a team of automation analysts to successfully develop and execute against the automation strategies necessary to maximize customer experience and minimize time-to-market. 

Job Responsibilities

Business Outcomes

  • Successfully partners with Product Owners to prioritize quality and oversees the translation of priorities to a unified Automation Roadmap 
  • Strong Quality acumen, understands the signals and drivers of poor quality and understands the tactics, techniques, and practices needed to address the effects of poor product quality 
  • Familiarity with quality practices applied across product operating models and proven ability to deliver innovation, with a strong emphasis on cloud technologies (AWS)
  • Actively identifies ways to support quality practices around applying behavior driven development (BDD) and test driven development (TDD) into all phases of product delivery
  • Actively questions and proposes ways to enhance processes across the business through Quality Practices (including operational processes)
  • Define strategy to develop and deliver end-to-end automation across Product teams to support business operations, strategic objectives and improved customer experience
  • Development of Automation scripting and queries using various Tools (QTP, UFT, Selenium, etc.) 
  • Act as a key contributor in the continued automation development and Frameworks Maintenance
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written) on both a technical and business level
  • Ensure input and outcomes of quality roadmaps are measured against expected outcomes and that roadmaps are adjusted to achieve maximum impact
  • Ability to quickly comprehend project goals/requirements, identify holes/omissions and testing challenges/impediments
  • Identifies opportunity for automation synergies between product teams and shares insights

Leadership

  • Proven Manager of Mangers (on and off shore), capable of overseeing large diverse teams and leading to successful outcomes
  • Dedicated coach and mentor who continually invests in team’s skills while promoting mobility and exporting top talent within the broader ecosystem.
  • Actively engages with external communities to attract new talent and promote our employer brand
  • Liaise with onshore/offshore managers on all progress and issues related to automation testing

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities

  • Deep subject matter expertise on Agile, Testing Practices, and Test Automation, with strong business and technical acumen (Experience in financial services, retail, digital or consulting)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area
  • Proven experience working with the following:
    • Functional testing automation tools and technologies Selenium/Unified Functional Testing/Soap UI/Cucumber) and Test Framework
    • Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS)
    • Scripting Language (Java/Visual Basic/Python/Groovy/Ruby)
    • Web testing methods and writing SQL queries (SQL Server 2012 and higher)
    • Source/Configuration Management Tools (GIT/ BitBucket)
    • CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) Tools (Jules/Jenkins) and Build Management Tools (Maven)
  • Strong presence and speaking skills, with the ability to influence and motivate; Comfortable presenting recommendations to senior management and capable of influencing multiple stakeholders
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills – Able to quickly and effectively respond to rapidly changing business needs and urgent requests.
  • Critical thinker who can evaluate and improve skill level of a team
  • Strong grasp of new technologies, competitive landscapes, marketplace, and regulatory environment
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities
