The Global Sanctions Compliance (GSC) team is part of Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC). The GFCC organization has over 700 staff members across the world. The team covers both global and business-aligned functions supporting the firm’s Anti-money laundering, Sanctions, and Anti-corruption programs. 

The job responsibilities of the GSC Advisory & Investigations - Vice President position include managing a team that is responsible for providing advice and guidance with respect to sanctions laws, including OFAC and other relevant jurisdictions, providing training and additional guidance when necessary, responding to sanctions escalations, filing and maintaining OFAC license applications, and maintaining and updating internal sanctions guidance as necessary. Managing the GSC Investigations team which is responsible for reviewing potential violations of relevant sanctions regulations, responding to regulatory requests including administrative subpoenas, tracking OFAC licenses, and other related reviews and projects.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a strong working knowledge of OFAC and other sanctions programs in order to provide advice and to support ad hoc queries raised by business partners and their customers
  • Provide training and additional guidance when necessary, respond to sanctions escalations, and maintain and update sanctions guidance as necessary.
  • Provide sanctions advice and guidance with respect to sanctions laws, including OFAC and other relevant jurisdictions impacting particular Line of Business.
  • Keep informed of any changes to processes and procedures, regulatory change and ensure open verbal dialogue with colleagues across the Western Hemisphere (WHEM) region.
  • Interact with regulators within the U.S. Treasury Department.
  • Demonstrate a quality focused work ethic and strong controls mind-set, understand regulatory requirements and adhere to appropriate controls. 
  • Utilize strong organizational skills that enable effective work prioritization of multiple asks and ensure timely escalation of key risks/issues to management.
  • Effectively communicate sanctions analysis and impacts at all levels
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of ever-changing sanctions landscape through knowledge and research. 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills: 

  • Skills in assessment of risk and making sound decisions in regard of sanction risk.
  • Relevant experience of Compliance activities particularly in relation to US, UK, and EU sanctions.
  • Understand various Line of Business products and services, such as Markets, Custody, Securities Services, Trade, Payments, Wealth Management, Transfer Agency.
  • Good communication skills - both verbal and written, including the ability to convey complex ideas and concepts in a clear manner appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to establish good relationships with other parts of a large organization.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, owning the issues and having the determination to follow tasks/issues through to resolution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deliverables.
