We are seeking a full-time Mortgage Originator to join our team. This position will be based out of our Berwick Market Street Community Office.

The Mortgage Originator is responsible for establishing business relationships with realtors, builders, consumers, and a variety of professional services. The selected candidate will originate permanent conforming, non-conforming residential mortgage loans. They will also build and maintain a lending portfolio with customer client base and provide service to current and prospective customers seeking residential mortgage loans. This position will ensure the preparation and processing of forms and legal documents required for residential loans. Actively participate in the development of new loan products and be informed of trends in local real estate market, as well as the changing rules and regulations pertaining to all mortgages.

Essential Duties

Perform a variety of duties to support the mortgage loan servicing function of the bank in accordance with established procedural guidelines including but not limited to the following:

  • Business development with realtors, builders, consumers, and a variety of professional services.
  • Build and maintain a lending portfolio with customer client base.
  • Must be available to meet with customers during evening hours or on weekends as needed.
  • Prepare mortgage applications from inception, gathering all required information/documentation and follow through in process until close.
  • Provide information and assist in the preparation of various loan reports as directed.
  • Actively participate in the development of new loan products.
  • Respond to customer inquiries.
  • Participate in training, as available; continue to learn new aspects of lending.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and promotes the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety, soundness, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This includes annual Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training and complying with all BSA rules and regulations as they pertain to the job position within the Bank.
  • Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.

Requirements: The selected candidate must have the following skills:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required with a minimum of a 2-year college degree in a related filed is preferred; specialized banking education and/or training, and sales knowledge is required.

  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant banking experience and related sales experience is required. Experience in mortgage and commercial lending preferred.

  • Superior networking and interpersonal relationship skills.

  • Exceptional sales and communication skills.

  • Ability to develop and maintain a business portfolio and to work effectively without supervision.

  • Must possess a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact lending services.

  • Familiar with lending practices, mortgage processing and closing documentation and construction loans.

  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, math and analytical skills, as well as computer and phone skills, and excellent organization skills.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and daily access to personal vehicle.

Hours: Minimum of 40 hours per week; must be flexible to work nights and weekends as needed.
