Job Title: Research Technician
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Schedule: This position may require flexibility with shift/hours. Occasional weekend half-days may be required. Roughly once per month.

OverviewA top-ranked research university is currently searching for a Research Technician for one of its growing departments will be engaged in studying bacterial metabolism and biofilm formation in vitro and in tissue samples. If interested in joining this dynamic department, please apply!
Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of laboratory experiments such as basic bacteriology culturing, molecular techniques, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis. Ensures conformity to specifications.
  • Prepares reagents and media.
  • Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.
  • Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions.
  • Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books. Organizes and documents results.
  • Maintains, calibrates, cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment.
Requirements:
  • Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Ideally, the successful candidate will be familiar with basic bacteriology techniques and with laboratory maintenance tasks such as pouring plates, making solutions, and handling glassware.
  • Familiar with microscopy and with analyzing microscopy data are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong computer and basic statistical skills are important, as is the ability to analyze, organize, interpret, and present data both verbally and in writing.
  • Some experience in a laboratory, specifically with molecular biology, is desired.
