Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of laboratory experiments such as basic bacteriology culturing, molecular techniques, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis. Ensures conformity to specifications.
- Prepares reagents and media.
- Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.
- Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions.
- Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books. Organizes and documents results.
- Maintains, calibrates, cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment.
- Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Ideally, the successful candidate will be familiar with basic bacteriology techniques and with laboratory maintenance tasks such as pouring plates, making solutions, and handling glassware.
- Familiar with microscopy and with analyzing microscopy data are particularly encouraged to apply.
- Strong computer and basic statistical skills are important, as is the ability to analyze, organize, interpret, and present data both verbally and in writing.
- Some experience in a laboratory, specifically with molecular biology, is desired.
