Position: Butcher

Joseph’s Founder is a third generation butcher, so you can
imagine our Meat Department is a point of emphasis in our stores. Our Meat
Clerks play a critical role in maintaining the department’s standards. From
Hand Made Sausages and the finest cuts of beef, to our butchers and meat clerks
assisting customers with selecting the perfect meat item, Joseph’s Meat
departments are a cut above the rest.

Routine Tasks:

• Provides customer service up to the Joseph’s standard
• Maintains Joseph’s standards for product freshness and

• Sells products by providing customers with product

• Replenishes, maintains, and rotates products and display

• Takes and fulfills special orders for customers
• Packages and labels products for self-service, and ensures

• Operates knives, band saw, grinder, scale, wrapping machine

• Assists with other tasks as assigned

Specific Butcher Routine Tasks:

• Cut, bone, or grind pieces of meat
• Weigh, wrap, and display cuts of meat
• Cut or prepare meats to specification or customer’s orders
• Store meats in refrigerators or freezers at the required temperature
• Clean equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards

Our butcher/meat cutter is key players in our success as they serve our customers with the biggest smiles and the most helpful attitudes imaginable

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to deliver friendly, respectful, timely customer

• Ability to read, write, and do simple math problems
• Ability to interpret and follow instructions
• Ability to work well with others
• Food preparation experience
• A passion for serving people

A Butcher performs their tasks primarily in the Meat
department. Work involves walking, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting
products weighing up to 80 pounds. Work may be done inside Meat preparation
room and Meat Refrigerated Cooler, you will be exposed to various temperature
changes and work environments. Work also includes frequent interaction with
customers and fellow employees.
