Position: Board Certified Behavior Analyst 

Term: 9 Months 

Classification: Classified/Exempt 

Location: District Wide 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in applied behavior analysis, psychology, special education, or a related field. 
  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board 
  • Knowledge of principles, ethics and applied behavior analysis techniques, positive behavior support, and evidence-based interventions for individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges. 
  • Experience working with students in a public school setting or similar educational environment.

Chosen candidates will be expected to apply for and maintain a valid MO Substitute Teaching Certification.

This position is expected to direct the work of paraprofessionals, Behavior Interventionists, Behavior Specialists, and will support the work of teachers in Intensive Special Education Programs.

Reports to: Director of Special Education

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will provide behavioral analysis and intervention services to students with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and behavioral challenges in the public school setting. The BCBA will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans to support students' academic and behavioral goals.

  • Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes.
  • Ensures that all activities conform to district and state guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with administrative teams in developing and implementing systems, procedures, and practices.
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors and lead school teams in the development of appropriate behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Develop and implement individualized behavior support plans, including positive behavior support strategies, reinforcement procedures, and data collection methods.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to teachers, behavior specialists, paraprofessionals, and other school staff on effectively implementing behavior interventions, strategies and data collection. Additionally, provide and document needed supervision for BCaBAs and RBTs working within Intensive Programs.
  • Collect and analyze data on student behavior and progress to monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make data-driven decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams and Problem-Solving Teams (PST) to develop appropriate goals, accommodations, and modifications for students with behavioral needs.
  • Provide consultation and support to parents/caregivers on implementing behavior strategies at home and promoting consistency across settings.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide recommendations for environmental modifications and instructional strategies to support positive behavior.
  • Collaborate with school teams to develop schedules, identify staff roles and responsibilities, and maximize other classroom systems to improve educational outcomes for students.
  • Stay up-to-date with current research, best practices, and ethical guidelines in the field of applied behavior analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, interventions, and student progress.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and ongoing supervision to maintain BCBA certification.

  • Occasionally lift 100 pounds
  • Frequently walk up and down stairs while assisting students
  • Frequently walk on a variety of ground surfaces, including, but not limited to, paved, gravel, grass, or dirt
  • Frequently bend and twist the torso and neck
  • Frequently squat or kneel to the ground
  • Frequently use repetitive arm, wrist and hand movements
  • Use close, distance and peripheral vision as well as depth perception
