We are seeking a Full Time Veterinarian Assistant to add to our team. A Veterinarian Assistant helps the doctors and receptionists in all duties of the veterinary hospital. The responsibilities vary with current needs of the hospital staff, the season of the year and the individual abilities demonstrated by the team member.

Duties include:

• Kennel: Care of boarding and hospitalized animals, including cage cleaning, exercising, feeding, observation for signs of illness, parasites and disease control, laundry and bathing to keep animals clean.
• Animal: Ability to restrain for procedures performed by technicians and doctors. As well as perform certain procedures. Knowledge of common diseases, their symptoms and means of transmission. Administration of oral medications. Assessment of change in animal status.
• Clients: Professional, cheerful and helpful attitude when contacting pet owners. Knowledge of preventative health care recommendations to answer questions and assist in marketing veterinary services from which pets would benefit.
• Laboratory: Performance of simple in-house laboratory tests. Completion of forms for out-of-house laboratory. Filing of laboratory reports. Clean up of laboratory area.
• Assisting/Performing: Animal restraint, nail trimming, ear cleaning, client education, prescription filling and computer transaction entry during office hours or treatment times.

Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience
• Must have computer skills, including a working knowledge of Google Drive, Docs and Sheets.
• Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations
• Must have the physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast paced and challenging environment
• Must be dependable, demonstrate strong work ethic, and a willingness to learnMust be able to lift and carry animals or materials weighing 50 pounds or more; handle dogs weighing up to 150 lbs.

Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
