Data Scientist


Position Overview:

As a Data Scientist, you will collaborate with members to answer their business questions by using advanced data analysis techniques. You will mine and analyze complex and unstructured data sets using advanced statistical methods for use in data-driven decision making. This position will perform research, analysis and modeling on organizational data and will provide findings and results to technical and non-technical members for use in decision making.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead in implementation of data architecture/platform to enable operationalizing data science initiatives
  • Drive the collection, cleansing, processing and analysis of new and existing data sources.
  • Learn and stay current on data science methodologies
  • Shares responsibility for maintenance and ensuring optimal performance of data platforms.
  • Shares responsibility with the greater Data & Analytics team for ensuring quality and integrity of enterprise governed data, ensuring consistency and synchronization among systems.
  • Develop cost-benefit models to justify the data purchase/collation.
  • Document and maintain governance information regarding data and models.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork across the Data & Analytics team and the organization.
  • Develop and assist in delivery of education material on tool and model usage
  • Assist in legacy reporting solutions as needed


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Coursework in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Business Intelligence, Economics or related field desired

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience of developing scalable machine learning frameworks, including collection of relevant input variables, feature engineering, tuning and testing.
  • Experience working with large databases and data visualization tools

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Ability to facilitate interactive design and functional specification sessions
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and conceptual skills
  • A demonstrated track record in new concept development for a variety of projects and complex analytic artifacts
  • Passionate to share ideas, work with and mentor other members to ensure the success of the team
  • Solid communication skills (verbal, written, listening) and the ability to interact with all levels of Johnsonville customers and members
  • Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate and influence others
  • A customer-focused service attitude
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives and day-to-day task management
  • Excellent technical documentation skills
  • Problem/situation analysis
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills
  • Statistical knowledge
  • Ability to think creatively, debug, troubleshoot, design and implement solutions to complex technical issues
  • Modeling experience in statistical programming languages such as R, Python, PySpark or SQL

  • Willingness to work hours outside of normal hours as needed
  • Ability to travel
  • On-call rotation (7x24) with other team members
