Basic Function

Our solutions of the traditional brands Passavant®, Noggerath® and Geiger® cover the entire Water and Wastewater treatment plants with mechanical screening equipment and clarification process – with low maintenance costs and, highest life-cycle. The primary function of our Sales Application Engineer is to support outside sales, analyze customer specifications, recommend optimal product configurations and installation processes, and estimate implementation efforts. They develop and review sales proposals for accuracy, possess deep knowledge of the organization's products, and contribute to the development of technical presentations and marketing materials. Our Sales Application Engineer works remotely and travels less than 10% of the time to tradeshows and client locations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Uses technical knowledge of product offerings to advise and support sales and service teams with pricing estimates and implementation guidance based on customer requirements.
  • Analyzes customer's technical specifications, recommends the best product configuration and installation process, and estimates implementation effort, time, and resources.
  • Reviews sales proposals for accuracy, completeness, and quality.
  • Has deep knowledge of the organization's products, processes, and services.
  • Develops and delivers technical product presentations and marketing materials used to engage customers and prospects and educate sales teams.
  • Collaborates with implementation teams to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions and deliver customer training.
  • Effectively communicates with customers, technical teams, and Rep Firms.
  • Develops Inside Sales proposals and costing tasks.
  • Works independently or collaboratively.
  • Contributes to moderately complex aspects of projects and sourcing of equipment.
  • Develops positive relationship with new or existing clients.
  • Maintain and document service in CRM tool and provide reports to supervisor of sales activities.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Sales, Civil, Mechanical, or Application Engineering, STEM, or P.E.
  • 2-4 years of design experience, sales engineering, civil, mechanical, or application engineering.
  • 1-3 years’ AutoCAD/Inventor experience.
  • Knowledge of Municipal environments, water & wastewater process, capital equipment supply.
  • Experience with submittal municipal packages & approval process.
  • Experience working with clients to identify optimal solutions.
  • Experience with outsourcing manufacturing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in German and Italian languages preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and facilitation skills.
  • Lives within a 60-minute driving radius of the West Michigan area (Holland, Grand Rapids, etc.).
  • Software proficiency to include Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with SAP and Salesforce preferred.

Required PPE

Steel-toe shoes, safety vest, hard hat, etc. will be provided for project visits.

Medium Work Exerting 21 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 11 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Heavy Work Exerting 51 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 26 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 11 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Very Heavy Work Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
