Position Description: JMT is seeking a Part-time Project Accountant to assist at a client site.

MAA's Office of Capital Programs & Financial Analysis is seeking a resource for two days a week to support capital program administrative, reporting and analysis functions. Specifically, this resource would (1) track, process, code and record capital invoices for payment; (2) develop and manage trackers for various expenses; requests, and payments; (3) conduct data entry to populate analysis and reports; (4) review reports and trackers for Quality Assurance/Quality Control to ensure accurate and consistent reporting of data; assist with attending meetings to take notes and record action items.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Set up projects and budgets in the accounting database
• Review contract terms and verifications of job setup paperwork.
• Ensure that submitted information is accurate and in compliance with company accounting standards and government requirements.
• Set up project financials and budgeting
• Ensure all billing transactions are completed and accurately recorded in the Accounting system
• Process complex invoices (Cost Plus, Time and Materials, & Fixed Price) and record/track monthly billing
• Investigate and resolve billing issues
• Analyze and populate monthly financial reports
• Indexing and filing invoices into the electronic document management system

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

• * High school diploma or equivalent and related experience, Associates Degree preferred
• Proficient in Office 365 applications including Excel, Word and powerpoint
• Knowledge of accounting principles and a basic understanding of reviewing, recording, and coding invoices for payment
• Familiar with bookkeeping and tracking financial data
• Skill in calculating percentages
• Skill in resolving problems associated with incomplete, inaccurate, or conflicting data and in reconciling/correcting errors
• Ability to prepare financial reports and data exports

Qualifications Preferred

* Experience working in accounting operations, experience in multi-discipline consulting engineering/ architectural office is preferred

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
