Position summary: Applies standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Duties include construction inspection of milling, asphalt paving and pavement markings at facilities sites in northern New York.

Compensation is $38.00-$45.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Performs routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
• Gathers and maintains record documents
• Makes field notes and computations

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience
• Computer Proficiency
• Active driver’s license

Qualifications Preferred

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Client Requested Certifications

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
