Full Time TVI Job Description

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field preferred, Teacher of the Visually impaired certification required
• Willingness to case manage apx. 5-10 students from K-12th grade in small school district and work collaboratively with early childhood providers- work in multiple settings across grade levels
• Three plus years of experience providing educational, braille instruction, expanded core curriculum, rehabilitative, or assistive technology support services to students or adult clients with visual impairments
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot assistive equipment and be willing to lead Assistive Technology team and evaluations for district
• Knowledge and practice in facilitating Functional Vision Evaluations, collaborating with other service providers and educational best practices as it relates to blind/visually impaired students.
• Skill in writing basic reports, using arithmetic, and reading and interpreting charts and graphs
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Human relations skills sufficient to establish rapport with students, families and school districts
• Work collaboratively with state agencies supporting students with visual impairments- be the point of contact for APH Quota funded materials
• Proficient keyboarding skills and use of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and online apps or sites for teamwork and file-sharing
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as an integral member of IEP and MDAT teams
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow state and federal FERPA/HIPAA laws
• Ability to travel locally and long-distance (up to 40 miles to rural community- district vehicle provided), independently and on a regular basis
