What you will do
Participate in our 13-week customized Internship Program that consists of a combination of continued Training (Self-paced and in-person), hands-on real world field work, entry level engineering activities and a final presentation of a capstone project.
First 10 Weeks: Perform assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools. Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
Next 2 Weeks: Perform assigned basic / entry level engineering activities to support field team such as standard software generation and as-built documentation.
Last Week: Generate and present a capstone project that reflects on your 12-week intern experience.
How you will do it:
1. Develop and load system level controller software.
2. Develop and load supervisory level controller software.
2. Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required commissioning documentation.
3. Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
4. Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
5. Complete administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
6. Document changes from the field and develop as-built documentation.
7. Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
8. Follow all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
What we look for
Required Qualifications:
Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
Pursuing a degree in engineering relevant to mechanical and electrical systems.
Extremely organized, detail-oriented and able to effectively multi-task.
U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
Proactive and positive attitude, read to learn and contribute to real world projects.
Demonstrates an ability to learn quickly and independently.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong problem-solving skills.
Able to use hand and power tools (i.e., drills, saws, etc.).
Strong computer skills required. (All Microsoft and Office Suite products).
Personal Vehicle and valid driver’s license required. Will be working in an office and field (jobsite) environment.
