Johnson Controls Federal Systems is Hiring a HVAC Controls Engineer (Job number: 959) Near Fort Stewart, GA

We are seeking an HVAC Controls Engineer to join our federal team based at Fort Stewart and the Hunter Army Airfield (Military friendly and encouraged, but experience not required) supporting long-term energy efficiency and sustainability projects, primarily related to HVAC, HVAC controls (DDC controls), BAS, metering, electrical and utilities systems.

Location: Fort Stewart military base, GA. Company vehicle is provided.Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday.Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employmentVacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total)Travel Required: None, all work is based at Fort Stewart

As an HVAC Controls Engineer, you will:

  • Configure and program HVAC building automation and control systems (direct digital controls) and create sequence of operations, primarily using Metasys
  • Develop and test software programs to operate the system
  • Support technicians by ensuring the quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs
  • Loading, commissioning, bench testing and troubleshooting system level building control systems and network-level controllers
  • Validates complete system functionality
  • Provide field change information to the project team for as-built drawings and software
  • Performs or delegates tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including: system programming, integration, installation coordination, system and network commissioning and project closeout
  • Develops project plans and coordinates the required resources to ensure timely and cost effective installation and completion of assigned projects.
  • Provides work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary
  • Completes typical installation of hardware design and software programming using established standards as required.
  • Manages and completes the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validates complete system functionality and resolves issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation. Provides accurate project as-built and commissioning documentation
  • Provides coaching, mentoring and technical assistance to Controls Technicians, System Technicians, Electrical Installers, System Designers, Subcontractors, and other less experienced team members.
  • Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensures owner/operator has been trained. Provides proper documentation and manuals for system operation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical, hands-on experience with installation, commissioning and programming of digital HVAC controls systems (DDC controls).
  • Proficiency with writing code for controller sequence of operations
  • Proficiency with integration protocols (Bacnet, Lonworks, Modbus, etc)
  • Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems and equipment.
  • The ability to communicate technical material to a nontechnical audience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as needed. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical proficiency working with Metasys and/or Tridium Niagara software
  • Experience managing or leading HVAC related projects and associated teams
  • Knowledge of networking systems
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Software Engineering, or a similar field.
