Johnson Controls Federal Systems is Hiring a Fire Alarm Technician - Camp Humphreys, South Korea (Job number: 950) Near Houston, TX

We are seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to join our federal team based at the Camp Humphrey’s U.S. military site in South Korea. This position will upgrade and maintain the fire alarm system in a high security command center on Camp Humphrey’s. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a very challenging yet rewarding military facility making a true contribution to our nation’s defenses. The technician will be expected to live in South Korea and will be provided with a housing and subsistence allowance. The technician will also be required to cross train to monitor the building management system as an additional responsibility.

Location: USAG Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtek, South Korea (must be able to live and work in South Korea full-time)

Shift: Supports a 24/7/265 environment so primary shift may rotate at times.Pay range: $85,000 - $100,000 base 25% uplift for being overseas. Negotiable based on experience.Monthly living stipend: Yes, provided by companyBenefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employmentVacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total)Travel Required: Limited, all work will be at the Camp Humphrey’s location.

As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will:

  • Under direct supervision, completes assigned programming, commissioning, basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of fire alarm systems per contract obligations
  • Assists experienced personnel with solutions to systems problems, either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems. Requires understanding of core and third party fire products, software and systems electrical technology.
  • Assists in performing required commissioning documentation. Provide accurate information for as-builts documentation.
  • Conducts testing to ensure proper operation of equipment after installation or repairs
  • Adheres to safety standards and local and national codes, with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Maintains appropriate local and National Fire Industry Certifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals
  • Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Continuous proactive customer interactions including an in-depth understanding of customer(s) needs wants and systems currently in place.
  • Completes paperwork and on site documentation as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • Two or more years experience with commercial fire alarm or fire suppression systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Active Department of Defense Top Secret clearance required; TS/SCI clearance preferred. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)
  • NICET II (or higher) certification required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electronics certification from an accredited technical school or military electronics training preferred.
