City of Raleigh is Hiring an Inventory and Warehouse Supervisor Near Raleigh, NC

Job Description

The City of Raleigh is seeking a qualified Inventory and Warehouse Supervisor to provide inventory and warehousing functions and professional procurement and contract administration services to the City. Incumbents provide skilled technical work and perform the most complex inventory and warehousing activities. Work includes oversight of inventory, supply, and/or warehouse staff. Incumbents may supervise paraprofessional and support staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures or supervise an administrative function.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processes and submits requisitions for the creation of purchase orders; reviews vendor quotes and service availability; assists in vendor selection process within established guidelines; determines supply levels, purchase timing and required supply quantities.
  • May supervise staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures or supervisor an administrative function.
  • Responds to and prepares material stock requests; confirms orders; provides and oversees stock/material picking, issuance and/or delivery.
  • Oversees and provides receipting of inventory, materials and/or services; verifies quantity and accuracy based on orders and/or completion of services; ensures inventory control system information and records are maintained, and inventory is stored in or distributed to proper and safe location.
  • Monitors, audits and maintains inventory counts, catalog and/or related storage records; identifies and reconciles discrepancies; prepares and maintains reports and statistics related to processes and activities.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED and three years of inventory and/or warehousing experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing/Certifications

  • Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire, and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Forklift certification.

ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids); frequent exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and movement restrictions; and moderate exposure intense noise or travel.
