The base hourly rate for this position is $38.30

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Under the direct supervision of the Plant Engineer, responsible for performing all duties in a safe, quality driven, efficient, and professional manner. Working from general instructions from the plant management team, and all levels within the organization in support of the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance, and Protection.

BASIC ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Use & follow established safe working practices and report unsafe or hazardous conditions at all times to supervisor.Wear Proper PPE and follow all Safety & General shop rules for the Edison PVC Plant. Follows plant safety rules and knows where Safety Data Sheets can be accessed via SiteHawk. Complete training and all other programs needed to stay in compliance with JM policiesReceive and follow verbal and written instruction from Plant EngineerOperate fork truck & mobile equipment as required (must be properly training and licensed)Maintain equipment and work area in clean and orderly manner. Work area must be maintained and neat & orderly at end of each shiftUse safe work practices and report hazardous conditions immediately. Participate in continuing education offered by the CompanyPerform other miscellaneous job duties as directed or required by management.

ELECTRICAN ESSENIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 30 % of work

Generate, read and work form electrical schematics, sketches or verbal instructions in making assemblies and installations.Proficient in use of, current, voltage & resistance meters and other electronic test equipment. Makes electrical measurements and calculations as required.Troubleshoot power and control circuits for plant power distribution and machine control. Document systems in schematic form and install, and start up systems.Proficient in reading relay logic diagrams, modifying circuitry in the field or installing new.Knowledgeable in microprocessor based controls/PLC's. Troubleshoot control logic.Have knowledge of DC and AC drives. Integrate systems that utilizes microprocessor/ PLC's, drives and controls to operate/improve systems operations.Plans and lays out work assignments to accomplish them with maximum efficiency, interpreting and following blueprints, sketches, NEC, and NFPA 70E requirements. Disassembles motors, gear motors, regulators, switches and other electrical equipment. Repairs, replaces, cleans, and reassembles parts. Lubricates all types of motors, generators etc. as needed. Inspects electrical circuits, systems, equipment and machinery. Diagnoses faulty operation and determines proper corrective action and makes necessary adjustments, replacements and repairs. Installs, maintains and repairs temperature controlling and recording instruments including; thermocouples, chart recorders, voltage and current sensing devices, and potentiometers. Services electrical equipment on air compressors, refrigeration equipment, air conditioners and other equipment by inspecting motors, starters and control equipment throughout the plant, including the replacement or repairs of parts as necessary. Maintains all lighting equipment throughout the plant including the replacement of bulbs and ballasts as necessary. Performs work in accordance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and company safety rules. Instructs other employees in starting, stopping and operating electrical equipment when repaired. Keeps familiar with latest types of electrical control, motor drive and industrial lighting equipment.

MAINTENANCE/MECHANICAL ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 70% of work

Supervise/manage small projects as assigned. Work independently.Operate various machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders and related equipment to make repairs.Maintains, adjusts, services and lubricates plant equipment such as production machines, mobile equipment, pumps, valves and other process related equipment. Inspects and determines required repairs.Maintains and makes repairs to plant buildings, facilities, utilities and area systems involving plumbing, carpentry, masonry, pipe fitting and other related crafts.Diagnose, repair and install power transmission components - Gear boxes, couplings, chains, belts, sprockets and other related components.Performs welding and gas cutting as required.Diagnose, repair and install pneumatic and hydraulics systems - cylinders, hoses, pumps and valves.Reports time and documents work orders appropriately to SAP.Utilizes inventory system and assures all parts are removed and returned to inventory as required.Assists in production line changeover and setup and ability to lead if needed. Maintain maintenance, TPM, deviation/inspection and other required electronic and written logs as instructed Operate overhead crane and lift devices safely & efficiently Direct multi-crafts daily in task & job assignmentLead MRO Cycle counting Process Installation of new equipment as necessaryObserve specific parts of equipment and materials in process to determine or analyze the cause of machine malfunctions. Repair and/or make any necessary adjustments to equipment to obtain desired operating resultsWork with engineers, part/mold designers, and other management personnel to set up, operate, and debug assigned equipmentProvide ownership and input of extrusion and thermoforming processes and equipment for the reduction of downtime.Start-up, Shutdown, & Set-up of 3 of 3 of the following areas (Inline, Comets, Extrusion) Initiate/update Preventive Maintenance (PM’s), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Pre-Task Plans (PTP’s), Safety Audits etc., to provide efficient operation of Maintenance Department.

JOB MEASUREMENTS: Effective interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in team-based environment, flexibility, the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment in a safe manner, demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities during the course of the day

JOB LOCATION:

The responsibilities for this job are performed on the production plant floor. Conditions are often hot, with temperatures ranging from 70-115 degrees. Required personal protective equipment must be worn at all times

EQUIPMENT: (i.e. Machines, Devices, Tools, Etc., used in job performance)

  • Forklift and other powered mobile equipment (JLG, scissor lifts, etc.)
  • Various machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, power saws, and related equipment to make repairs
  • Welding & gas cutting equipment
  • Powered overhead cranes and lifting devices
  • Multi-meter and electronic testing equipment
  • Extrusion & Thermoforming die & tooling equipment
  • Solid-works, AutoCAD, & SAP preferred but not required
BACKGROUND/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (i.e. high school diploma, degree, specialized knowledge, roles, skills and/or expertise)
  • Minimum of High School Diploma with technical college certification or Associates degree in technical discipline with 7 or more years of industrial experience in mechanical/electrical repairs -- or- 10 years of strong industrial experience in mechanical/electrical repairs in lieu of a formal education
  • Experience operating various machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders and related equipment to make repairs
  • Welding, gas cutting, and fabrication experience
  • Experience diagnosing, repairing, and installing power transmission components - Gear boxes, couplings, chains, belts, sprockets and other related components
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Flexible in work and assignments
