Position Summary:
The Occupational Health Service Coordinator will handle all administrative aspects of the employee encounter, assisting each and every employee to achieve the Ideal Occupational Health Services employee encounter, and maintaining accurate information on each employee to facilitate the encounter
This position primarily functions to serve as on-site support for the Occupational Health Services COVID testing Compliance Team and may include other functions within Occupational Health Services as needed
Where qualified some aspects may also be considered clinical. Offers friendly, courteous assistance to every employee to ensure that the employee has a positive, professional experience while at Johns Hopkins
The Occupational Health Service Coordinator will need to be proficient on computer systems
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
One (1) year of related experience required
Knowledge / Skills:
Knowledge of business, medical terminology and an excellent command of English grammar and spelling.
Ability to interact successfully with the public. Ability to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities; maintaining personal composure in high stress situations.
Ability to demonstrate and convey a favorable image of the organization and to conform to proper standards of professional dress, attitude and demeanor. Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff.
Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and with meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrate a strong ability to use initiative and judgment and to identify, analyze and solve problems.
Ability to proficiently operate PC’s and PC applications.
Basic skills of crisis counseling, and the ability to confidently refer employees for further careif needed.
Knowledge of or coursework in medical terminology.
Requires strong communication, interpersonal interaction and diplomacy skills to effectively interact with a diverse population of patient/employees. Must be able to effectively and appropriately interact with others in a poised and professional manner, even under challenging circumstances or when resistance is met
Requires strong observation skills and attention to detail -Requires general computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office software and related programs
Able to learn basic EPIC system functionality to ensure accurate data management related to testing protocols
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with limited supervision
May need to work multiple shifts with flexible scheduling to provide adequate coverage for the operational needs of Occupational Health Services and related efforts -Must successfully complete all required training courses to include: Electronic Patient ---Records (EPR), EPIC scheduling, ORMIS scheduling, and any other software systems, along with HIPAA compliance training and any other specified online courses.
Interacts with students, staff and faculty who are utilizing the testing center to explain the testing process, compliance requirements, answer questions and provide them with post-test instructions and generally direct the testing flow.
Ensures proper testing compliance and may include but not limited to: collecting, labeling, and storing contained specimens that are gathered through a self-collection process. This overall process follows clearly defined protocols to effectively minimize risk of exposure.
Documentation of specimen collection date and time to ensure accurate test processing.
Maintains clean/dirty areas appropriately to manage health and safety of all parties utilizing the testing stations.
Interacts in a polite and professional manner with staff, faculty, students and visitors to advise them of operational PPE requirements and work toward achieving full compliance.
Possesses a basic understanding of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) compliance guidelines related to proper mask usage and social distancing and advises others as needed.
