General Summary:

Reports to Assistant Administrator, Laboratory Manager or Direct Performance Improvement and is responsible for the quality assurance of testing procedures in laboratories. Collects, summarizes and evaluates quality control data investigating problems and recommending solutions. Assist in development, revision, and/or monitoring of laboratory procedures, and quality assurance programs, including proficiency-testing programs. Assist in provision of technical consultation for external laboratories, JHMI labs, (and Near Patient Testing areas, if assigned.) Some travel may be required.

Education:

Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, laboratory science or related field. Education experience includes one year supervised clinical internship in an approved lab or equivalent education and training in microbiology, chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, surgical pathology, histolory, immunohistochemistry, or related field.

Licensure/Certification:

ASCP or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of progressively more responsible clinical experience to acquire knowledge. Of those 4 years, 1 must have been included in QA activities.
