Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC is hiring for a Histotechnician (Pathology Department)

Schedule: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM 

Responsibilities

• Accurately grosses all special biopsy specimens. 
• Accurately embeds specimens using proper orientation. 
• Performs microtomy on tissue specimens at appropriate microns using various microtome models. 
• Performs routine H&E stain manually or automated following established protocol.
• Manual or automated coverslipping of slides, organizes slides, labels and prepares slides for pathologist to review. Ensures correct correlation to case. 
• Follows Laboratory safety procedures and all hospital, department and lab procedures.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s of Science degree; or
  • Associates degree in Histotechnology (general science or allied health) with one year experience (clinical internship counts as one year of clinical experience)
• Histology Certification HT(ASCP) is required.
