John McNeil Studio is looking for a Junior Designer to join our team. JMS is a creative marketing company made up of a collection of diverse skill sets: strategists, writers, designers, filmmakers, technologists, and photographers who help brands reinvent themselves through digital transformation. We are founded in aesthetics but also in utility and we make things that make brands thrive.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about design, curious, interested in a variety of media, has the ability to think on their feet to create culturally relevant concepts and is able to produce quality creative under deadline. The ideal candidate is a graphic designer with motion design skills, social media content creation and coordination experience. As a Junior Designer at JMS, you'll work with a high caliber team and gain excellent experience by being part of every project from brainstorming to execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create compelling, on-brand and engaging creative, including but not limited to post graphics, programmatic content templates, storyboards, photos, videos, and other rich media.
• Utilize Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, After Effects and Premiere with great proficiency, dedicating any downtime to learn more when possible in order to become an expert.
• Work with animators and editors to see concepts and storyboards through to execution.
• Participate in independent and group idea generation, contributing concepts as well as thinking through final form factor.
• Follow server and Dropbox protocols to organize and update production and image databases with the latest working files.
• Coordinate and support other designers, illustrators, printers, photographers, and production teams.
• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all colleagues and professionally with the client.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

• Bachelor or Associate degree in a design-related field.
• 1-2 years of graphic design experience.
• Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Figma.
• Working knowledge of storyboarding and video/animation process.
• Design, layout, and typography skills.
• Working knowledge of photography and image retouching.
• Ability to communicate concepts and process to social strategists and creative team leads.
• A passion for popular culture, current trends, and technology.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce quality creative under deadline — staying organized and balancing priorities.
• Working knowledge with office work applications, including Google slides, Keynote, and PowerPoint.
• Have basic skills in illustration or have the interest to develop these skills over time.
