Summer Street nursing facility (as part of John F. Murphy Homes, Inc.) is a beautiful and new 14-bed Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. As one of our charge nurses, you will be part of an excellent team of professionals to help meet the medical needs of the people we support. Summer Street nursing facility is a warm, home-like environment where people supported are cared for according to their individual needs.
You will be an extension of our Summer Streets team and providing nursing care to all people supported attending the JFM Strawberry Avenue ICF program in Lewiston. The Charge Nurse is the liaison during the shift whom ensures that the aspects of nursing and medical care services of people supported are delivered in accordance with their Person Centered Plans (PCP) which includes, but not limited to, nursing care plans, active treatment plans, active treatment schedules, dietary plans, medication administration reviews, physicians orders, positive behavioral support plans, and any other identifying needs as prescribed.

LPN Pay:starting at $33.80 hourly (depending on experience)
RN Pay:starting at $38.69 hourly (depending on experience)
Qualifications
Experience:2year of nursing experience preferred. Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities preferred, but not required.
Licensure:Current RN or LPN license on the State of Maine Registry in good standing required.
Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Purpose:The charge nurse (RN or LPN) oversees medical care provided to people supported while at day program. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision.
Primary responsibilities:
-Provide or supervise the nursing care of each program participant, unlicensed assistive personnel may provide some care
-Assess/evaluate, plan, implement and monitor nursing needs of people supported
-Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician
-Work collaboratively with all ICF/IID’s, corporate representatives and day program staff.
-Note any significant changes in the participant's behavior, medical condition report them to the Director of Nursing and Program Administrator
-Communicate with physicians, guardians, program nurses, CRMA’s and other healthcare providers on behalf of the people supported regarding any health changes or concerns.
-Respond to any emergency or urgent situations that arise
-Thorough documentation using Electronic Health Recordkeeping system (Therap)
-Adhere to and implement Infection Prevention and Control practices and protocols
-Ensures that the aspects of nursing and medical care services of people supported are delivered in accordance with their Person Centered Plans (PCP) which includes, but not limited to, nursing care plans, active treatment plans, active treatment schedules, dietary plans, medication administration reviews, physicians orders, positive behavioral support plans.
