John F. Deering Middle School is Hiring a Principal - Deering MS Near Warwick, RI

Position Summary:West Warwick Public Schools seek a strong educational leader to assume the vital position of Middle School Principal. The candidate must possess effective communication skills, and a commitment to a distributed leadership model of management and instructional leadership.Performance Responsibilities:Must be able to articulate a vision for a middle school in West Warwick to meet the needs of all students.Responsible for building and improving the school’s culture, climate and instructional programs.Manage the organization, operations and available resources to promote a safe, efficient and effective learning environment.Establish and implement clear instructional goals and specific achievement objectives for the school.Work within the framework of policies, laws, and regulations enacted by local, state and federal authorities.Coordinate the program activities of staff and students in developing goals, mission statements, etc. Facilitates change and innovation in the instructional program.Participate in curriculum development efforts. Clarify or interpret the educational aims/objectives of the school program. Evaluate the total instructional program.Advocate for the use of technology to change the delivery of instruction.Provide in-service staff development opportunities to address specific needs. Organize orientation programs for new staff.Assist in the development and implementation of programs to meet the needs of at-risk students. Special Student Populations: (ESL, special education Title I students, and at-risk students) coordinate activities in the planning, organization, staffing and review of programs serving the above special populations in the school.Articulation and Program Development Between Elementary School/ Middle School, and Middle/ High School.Work in conjunction with the principals of the elementary and high school in the coordination and articulation of transitional programs.Develop, coordinate and implement the school’s strategic plan in alignment with the District Strategic Plan.Responsible for organizing and supervising school sponsored events within and outside of the school.Assess the effectiveness of the school’s programs and report annually to the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designee any necessary changes.Remain current of changes in local, state and national education policy.Demonstrate a personal and professional code of ethics.Demonstrate values, beliefs, and attitudes that inspire others to higher levels of performance.Treat people fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect in an ethical manner.Protect the rights and confidentiality of students and staff.Prepare the master schedules for students/staff.Perform technical/managerial duties necessary to the daily operations of the school.Prepare the annual operating budget for the school.Responsible for the safety, cleanliness and appearance for the entire school complex.Influence policy and implement the same at the building level.Conduct building level staff meetings.Prepare project applications for submission as needed or requested.Promote positive interactions with community agencies.Communicates program progress, school programs, achievements and special events and activities.Collaborate with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.Model integrity, fairness and ethical behavior to help in the development of a caring and supportive school community.Embrace diversity and gender equity in support of a multi-lingual, multicultural, multi-social and economically diverse community.Participate in district-wide initiatives – examples to include alternative schools, management information, safety, teacher evaluations and School Improvement Team.Perform any other duties as may be necessary from one’s own observation or as directed by the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designee.Supervises and Evaluates:Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all personnel assigned to John F.
