John Crane is Hiring a Material Handler - Crystal Lake, IL - 1st Shift Near Crystal, IL

This position prepares the carbon compound used throughout the facility in the manufacturing process. The operator will also manufacture product using the compound created.

First shift, expected hours are 6:30 to 3, these hours may change depending on need.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Weigh, measure and sift materials for powder production. Load mixer to blend and mix carbon compound. Maintain proper mixing cycles and make intermittent quality check of the material.
  • Load, unload and operate heat treat ovens according to standard procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain curing reports.
  • Prepare finished part for treatment by washing in solutions to remove all dust and impure particles.
  • Load and unload ovens and determine time cycle for drying parts.
  • Operate pressure vessel to impregnate carbon with solvent.
  • Weigh parts to close tolerance to determine the exact pickup weight so that the established hardness and consistency tolerances have been achieved.
  • Maintain proper impregnation cycles/procedures/schedules to achieve the production rates and ensure product specifications met.
  • Work from factory orders and compound formulas.
  • Maintain accurate job and time reports
  • Follow standard procedures.
  • Keep records of wet and dry measurements.
  • All other duties as assigned.

The Individual

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to read and interpret simple drawings.
  • Complete simple arithmetic calculations using decimals, fractions and or metrics.
  • Prefer 1-2 years of related experience
  • Must be willing to wear and adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements including Respirator, safety shoes and safety glasses.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, up to 50 pounds.
  • Forklift (sit-down/standup) experience preferred.
