Job Description

John Anderson Construction seeks an ASME Certified Steel Pipe & Vessel Shop Foreman to lead the fabrication, assembly, and quality control processes within our steel pipe and vessel manufacturing shop. As a visionary leader, you will harness your comprehensive knowledge of ASME codes and standards to ensure the highest levels of quality and safety are upheld throughout all operations. Your role will involve directing daily shop operations, scheduling fabrication tasks, and allocating resources efficiently to optimize production output. With a focus on fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, you will provide guidance and mentorship to shop floor personnel, empowering them to excel in their roles. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure clear communication and alignment on project requirements. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering tailored solutions that meet the diverse needs of our clientele across the United States.

Responsibilities:

Shop Management:

Direct and coordinate daily operations within the steel pipe and vessel manufacturing shop.

Schedule and prioritize fabrication and assembly tasks to meet project deadlines and customer requirements.

Allocate resources efficiently, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimize production output.

Quality Control:

· Ensure compliance with ASME codes, standards, and specifications throughout all stages of fabrication and assembly.

· Implement quality control measures to monitor and maintain the integrity of manufactured steel pipes and vessels.

· Conduct inspections and audits to identify and rectify any deviations from established quality standards.

Personnel Supervision:

· Provide leadership and guidance to shop floor personnel, including welders, fabricators, and inspectors.

· Train and mentor team members on ASME regulations, welding techniques, and fabrication best practices.

· Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement among shop employees.

Safety Compliance:

· Uphold and enforce strict safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.

· Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote awareness and adherence to safety guidelines.

· Investigate and address any safety concerns or incidents promptly and effectively.

Communication and Collaboration:

· Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure clear communication and alignment on project requirements.

· Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to streamline workflows and resolve any issues that may arise.

Documentation and Reporting:

· Maintain accurate records of production activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and material certifications.

· Generate performance reports, including productivity metrics, quality metrics, and safety statistics, for management review.

· Assist in the preparation of as-built documentation and certification packages for completed steel pipe and vessel projects.

· Proficient in CRM systems, data analysis, and reporting tools.

Work Experience:

· ASME certification (e.g., ASME Section VIII Div. 1 or 2, ASME B31.1, B31.3, etc.) is required.

· Extensive experience in steel pipe and vessel fabrication, with a strong understanding of welding processes, metallurgy, and material properties.

· Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team of shop personnel.

· In-depth knowledge of ASME codes, standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to pressure vessel and piping fabrication.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

· Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.

· Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and CAD software for documentation and project management purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

· Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment.

· Familiarity with industry-specific software tools for quality control, project scheduling, and inventory management.

· Certification in welding inspection (e.g., AWS CWI) or non-destructive testing (e.g., ASNT Level II) is advantageous.
