Checkr is looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join Checkr X, our innovation program aimed at finding and bringing new products to the market. This team focuses on creating advanced infrastructure for the future of work, going beyond background checks. We are specifically hiring a senior engineer for Checkr Pay - our new payments platform for the gig economy. Checkr Pay enables instant payments to gig workers, seconds after completing a job, without any cost to the worker or the platform. Our core product is a digital wallet experience with a free Visa debit card, embedded directly in gig platform apps and websites. This product improves the onboarding experience for new workers and increases conversion rates by up to 30%. Checkr Pay is just the beginning of our vision for building a new financial ecosystem for the gig economy, promoting financial inclusion for the unbanked and underbanked. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our founders and early adopters to design and implement new products
- Bring a customer-focused, product-first mindset to the table - collaborate with customers to resolve product ambiguities and deliver impactful features
- Embrace experimentation - validate customer needs, gain team buy-in, and ship rapid MVPs
- Develop new end-to-end web applications
- Build new industry-leading APIs
- Instrument and deploy new product experiments
- Utilize Checkr's ecosystem (systems, data) when appropriate to accelerate development
What you bring:
- Experience founding or working in fast-paced startups
- 5 years of full stack software development experience
- Proficiency in JavaScript and React (or similar languages/frameworks)
- Adept at navigating product ambiguities and designing UI/UX flows
- Strong sense of ownership from feature design to production release
- Understanding of staged rollouts and the importance of MVPs
- Desire to collaborate with external stakeholders

Brownie Points:
- Experience in mobile development with cross-platform frameworks (such as React Native or Flutter)
- Experience integrating with third-party applications
- Experience creating, maintaining, and operating microservices
- Experience in securing and optimizing applications
- Experience developing platforms using an asynchronous event-based architecture
- Knowledge of various payment rails, including ACH and instant push-to-debit
