This team is specifically working on creating a people infrastructure for the future of work, going beyond background checks. Joining this team means being part of a startup within a startup!In particular, we are hiring a senior engineer for Checkr Pay, our venture in the payments space. Checkr Pay is a comprehensive payments platform designed for the gig economy. It enables gig platforms to provide instant payments to their workforce, right after completing a job, with no cost to the platform or the worker. Our core product is a digital wallet experience, including a free Visa debit card, integrated directly into gig platform apps and websites. This product enhances the onboarding process for new workers, increasing conversion rates by up to 30%. Our instant pay solution is just the beginning; we are building a new financial ecosystem for the gig economy that promotes financial inclusion for the unbanked and underbanked. This ecosystem includes rewards, benefits, fraud prevention, new financial products, and more. Join our team as we scale our product and power the future of the gig economy!Responsibilities:- Collaborate with our founders and early adopters to design and develop new products- Bring a customer-centric mindset to the table, working closely with customers to address product ambiguities and deliver impactful features- Embrace an experimentation mindset, with the autonomy to validate customer needs, gain team buy-in, and rapidly release Minimum Viable Products (MVPs)- Develop new end-to-end web applications- Build industry-leading APIs- Instrument and deploy new product experiments- Leverage the Checkr ecosystem (systems, data) when appropriate to accelerate the development of new conceptsWhat you bring:- Experience from founding or working in fast-paced startups- 5 years of full stack software development experience- Proficiency in Javascript and React (or similar languages/frameworks)- Good product sense, with the ability to navigate UI flows that may not have a ready-made mockup- Strong ownership mentality, taking responsibility from feature design to production release- Understanding of staged rollouts and MVP development, prioritizing practicality over perfection- Desire to collaborate with external stakeholdersAt Checkr, we are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse work environment.
