Responsibilities

The nurse manager 24/7 practice is accountable for the implementation of the vision, mission and values of Mayo Clinic and the Department of Nursing within defined areas of practice. The nurse manager 24/7 practice plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the operational, fiscal, and personnel activities within defined areas of practice to ensure the provision of quality patient care 24 hours a day. The individual contributes to the strategic planning process, and attainment of goals of the organization. The individual is responsible for one or more inpatient units based upon unit/area complexity and size of practice. The nurse manager 24/7 practice advocates for and allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice. The nurse manager 24/7 practice is responsible for total work unit budget. The individual promotes shared decision making on the unit level. The nurse manager 24/7 practice acts as a resource and facilitates collaboration between nursing personnel and other health care disciplines throughout the organization and within the healthcare community. The nurse manager 24/7 is accountable for promoting ongoing development of all staff and for maintaining a professional environment in which all staff can grow and develop. Direct reports may include nurse supervisors of assigned inpatient units.

The Vascular Surgery/Medical PCU is a 29 bed unit specializing in the care of patients who have had vascular surgery, patients admitted with medical conditions requiring cardiac monitoring, and periodic postpartum patients with babies in the NICU. Examples of vascular surgery include repair of an abdominal aneurysm, arterial bypass, endarterectomy, or amputation. Medical patients present with a variety of acute or chronic health problems. Aspects of nursing care include complex symptom management for patients with multiple comorbidities, patient/family education, extensive wound care, cardiac IV medication drips, and discharge planning in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. This role is NOT eligible to participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program and a Masters degree in Nursing, business or a health related field as approved by the Mayo Clinic Nurse Executive Committee. Will consider applicants meeting all other qualifications who commit to degree completion within six months from application date. Candidates who meet the baccalaureate degree requirement, but have not yet obtained a Masters degree may be considered for an interim role.

Minimum of three years of nursing practice or progressive leadership experience required. One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability. Experience in the department's specialty preferred. Management experience preferred. Preferred Education: Graduate of an accredited Master's in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, business, or health related field as approved by Mayo Clinic Nurse Executive Committee.

Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS - certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

• American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)
