Mayo Clinic's Division of General Internal Medicine in Rochester is one of the largest academic general internal medicine divisions in the world - serving as the gateway in evaluating and caring for adult patients that may have unexplained symptoms and/or complex medical conditions. Consultative Medicine Clinic (a section of GIM) provides consultative medical care to patients that reside outside of Olmsted County in Minnesota. Consultative Medicine sees new patients to Mayo Clinic for an initial comprehensive evaluation. The LPN role in Consultative Medicine includes, but is not limited to, patient visits (face to face and via telephone) review of patient health history, medication review, immunization administration, focused nutrition assessments, and blood pressure visits. Telehealth interactions may include collecting pertinent information prior to their arrival to the clinic, researching prescription discrepancies, and/or facilitating prior authorization denials. The LPN collaborates daily with physicians, nursing colleagues, and support staff.

Qualifications

Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program). If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.

Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the clinical and/or research settings. Able to work effectively with multiple members of the interdisciplinary care team. Demonstrates strong, effective and open communication skills to achieve mutual understanding and build trust and rapport with team members. Able to work in a rapidly changing environment while participating in developing innovative and creative solutions to patient care. Excels in creative experimentation and is able to explore new paths, procedures, and /or approaches to models of care teams. Displays flexibility in adapting and coping with accelerated changes within the environment.

License or Certification:

Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.

Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS - certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:

• American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)
• Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)
• Military Training Network

Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
