Job Title: Tax Director
Overview:
As a Tax Director in our local Philly suburbs firm, you will lead a dynamic team engaged in tax review work for a diverse clientele, including S-corporations, C-corporations, small businesses, high net-worth individuals (HNWIs), partnerships, and some trusts. Your expertise will guide the team in providing comprehensive tax planning, compliance, and advisory services, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws while optimizing tax efficiency for our clients. You will play a pivotal role in fostering client relationships, overseeing engagements, and mentoring team members to deliver exceptional service and value.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Provide strategic leadership to the tax review team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Manage, mentor, and develop team members, including tax seniors and staff, through coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
Oversee workload allocation, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tax engagements while maintaining high-quality standards.
Client Engagement:
Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients, understanding their unique tax needs, and providing proactive tax planning and advisory services.
Lead client meetings and presentations, articulating complex tax concepts in a clear and concise manner, and building strong client relationships based on trust and expertise.
Identify opportunities to expand services and add value to client relationships, collaborating with partners and other service lines within the firm.
Tax Review and Compliance:
Conduct thorough reviews of complex tax returns for various entity types, including S-corporations, C-corporations, partnerships, high net-worth individuals, and trusts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Analyze tax provisions, financial statements, and supporting documentation to identify tax-saving opportunities, minimize tax risks, and optimize tax strategies for clients.
Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards, and assess their impact on client engagements, providing guidance and recommendations as needed.
Technical Expertise:
Leverage your advanced knowledge of tax law, accounting principles, and industry best practices to address complex tax issues and provide innovative solutions to clients.
Research and interpret complex tax regulations, rulings, and court cases to support tax positions and strategies, ensuring compliance and minimizing tax liabilities.
Collaborate with internal resources, such as the firm's tax research department, to resolve technical tax issues and enhance the quality of client deliverables.
Qualifications:
CPA license required; advanced degree in taxation or related field preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax compliance and review work.
Proven track record of successfully managing and mentoring a team of tax professionals.
Deep technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements across various entity types.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex tax issues and develop practical solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and firm leadership.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple engagements simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
