Job Details
We are seeking a Remote Principal Full-Stack Engineer that combines hands-on contributions with responsibilities for the technical design and architecture of our systems. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the software solutions we build deliver exceptional customer experiences. We are seeking an individual excited about shaping the future of education through technology, with a preference for candidates with experience in the publishing industry or rich content production workflows, especially in education. Currently, we have over 130k daily users and growing and are looking for someone that has experience building public/customer facing web products with at least a similar number of daily users, if not more.
Responsibilities

• EST Hours (minimally core programming hours)
• Combination of architecture and hands on development
• Build new features and functionality to our existing products and platforms
• Build public facing digital products and help us scale
• Collaborate closely with product managers and product designers to contribute to the development of exceptional products.
• Evaluate, decide, and implement technical architecture decisions and designs, effectively communicating these decisions to the team.
• Coach and mentor software engineers to foster a collaborative and high-performing development environment.
• Review application code to ensure the release of high-quality software that aligns with our standards.
• Define and maintain organizational technology standards to ensure consistency and excellence.
• Lead the development of new software products and enhancements to existing products, contributing to the evolution of fundamental tools for users, authorization systems, assessment software for teachers and parents, reporting tools for educators, authoring tools, curriculum tools, and student interactivity tools.
• Work holistically on the entire problem, not just isolated pieces, to create comprehensive and seamless solutions.

You should have some, if not all of the following experience:

• 5 years of software engineering experience, with a focus on designing technical solutions at the component or module level for at least 2 years
• (Must) - Exp. building public facing B2B or B2C digital web products (Ideally with over 10k daily users) - users should be external customers
• NodeJS (Must)
• Exp. with the MERN stack would be desired
• React, Vue, or Angular
• MongoDB or PostgreSQL
• APIs
• Load Testing, Observability, Accessibility, Security
• Multilingual would be a plus (product used in different languages around the world)
• Authentication, authorization, OAuth, JWT
• Strong ability to communicate application architecture effectively, both in written and verbal formats, to diverse audiences
• Intellectual curiosity, a passion for learning, and a strong problem-solving mindset
• AWS
