Job Details
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILTIES
Under the direction of the Estimating Manager or Director or Division Manager, the Estimator II assesses the tender, drawings, and other specifications to create an estimate for submittal to the customer. This position works closely with Division management, project managers, safety, purchasing and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and accurate bid is submitted. An Estimator II is required to thoroughly review various streams of information including but not limited to, previous customer projects, similar projects from other customers in the market, labor costs, and other costs specific to the project. The Estimator II is also responsible for asking for clarification on the tender where necessary, and to address any changes in scope. The Estimator II manages projects with a $350K to $5M Range.
JOB DUTIES
1.Comply with safety requirements and actively promote a positive safety culture.
2.Review various streams of information including but not limited to; previous customer projects, similar projects from other customers in the market, labor costs, and other costs specific to the project.
3.Request clarification on the tender where necessary.
4. Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes.
5. Collects and analyzes all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment, and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate.
6. Estimates costs for engineering projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements.
7. Identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs.
8.Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: 3-7 years of multi-trade construction estimating experience on projects up to $5M, with knowledge of AutoCAD, and proficiency with MS Office, Excel, and Accubid Estimating Software or equivalent, College Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, trade craft certification or equivalent experience. Effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Interpersonal and negotiation skills, attention to detail, organization, and time management skills are necessary.
