Program Overview

JO’S Learning Academy is a small family oriented elementary school nestled on the border of Washington Heights neighborhood and North Avenue in the city of Milwaukee. JO’S participates in the Milwaukee Parental School Choice Program. We have a wonderful facility that provides high quality childcare starting at 6 weeks old. Children learn, grow and develop with us as they transition to school age at 4 years old through 5th grade. We are a one stop shop for parents/guardians with early childhood children.

Teaching Position

The classroom teacher provides high quality instruction, implements the curriculum, and maintains a safe and nurturing classroom environment that is conducive to learning. The teacher will instruct students in all basic subjects and teach them valuable social and emotional skills. This is done through using hands-on lessons and creative play, to lay the foundation for future learning.

Essential Functions:

• Is knowledgeable about Common Core State Standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Teaches grade relevant, subject matter specific and mandated curriculum.
• Prepares lesson plans for daily instruction and individualized learning for students.
• Confidently uses media/technology and other instructional aids to support learning.
• Develop and organize daily school plans, curriculum and materials.
• Maintain records of student progress and use information from teaching and assessments to provide appropriate individual instruction.
• Use available technology and instructional media resources to enhance student learning experiences.
• Assesses documents and prepares reports such as achievement progress, grades and classroom performance, and attendance.
• Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in learning.
• Communicates with parents/guardians regularly through multiple platforms.
• Attends staff meetings and collaborative planning with coworkers and administrative team.
• Participates in professional learning sessions and/or required conferences.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Must have previous experience working with childhood children ages 4-10.
• A bachelor's degree is required.
• A DPI teaching license is preferred.
• A child care credential is desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
