Position: Purchasing Specialist

Manager: Jackson Guess

Status: Full-Time; Hourly


Job Description:
As a Purchasing Specialist, you play an important role for our organization and will be responsible for issuing and maintaining purchase orders. This involves vendor collaboration, master data management, reporting, and problem solving to ensure continuity of supply. The Purchasing Specialistposition reports to the Purchasing Manager. This is a hybrid remote work role and would be based out of our corporate distribution center located in Smock, PA.

Responsibilities:

  • Purchase Order Management - Primary duties are to create, cube, issue, and maintain purchase orders for accuracy relating to cost, quantity, and delivery.
  • Review deliveries against the open purchase orders. Track on time delivery.
  • Resolve receiving variances/PO variances and close PO’s as needed on a monthly basis.
  • Expedite out of stock and promo/new items as needed.
  • Perform ERP system data entry and maintenance.
  • Track and manage lead and transit times relative to order/factory situations.
  • Interact with Logistics, Customer Service, and Demand Planning on a continuous basis.
  • Prepare and present weekly reports as assigned or needed.
  • Follow-up on supplier accounts through emails/calls/texts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related subject matter
  • 1 - 3 years’ purchasing experience
  • Familiar with purchasing, warehousing, and logistics processes and controls.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency with an emphasis on excel.
  • Excel Macro Experience
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and data management skills.

  • Solid judgement, decision making skills and professionalism.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed and customer service oriented.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Detail Oriented workstyle
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with customers, vendors and co-workers
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Experience using ERP system and familiar with MRP (material requirements planning).
  • Critical thinker and embraces change.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data


Job Requirements:

  • Must pass pre-employment drug test, random drug screens and follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Must pass background check
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
