Process/ Safety Auditor| Hammond, IN
Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
Starting Pay: $50k Annually
Shift(s): 1st (8 am – 4:30 pm) Mon – Fri. OT as needed
The process and safety auditor has multiple roles supporting the Engineering Department Manager; the HR Director; and the Maintenance Manager. Essentially this person will be performing daily employee labor balancing; auditing process work orders for completion; having ownership of the employee piece rate system; and enforcing safety rules within the plant.
Requirements & Skills:
· At least 5 years working within a production environment.
· Experience in leading people, filling out reports, communicating to groups of employees, and making improvements to achieve company goals and department KPI.
· A minimum of a high school diploma, or GED is preferred.
· Associates (or better) college degree is preferred, emphasis in areas of basic mathematics, written communications, or computer operation is a plus.
· Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), using MRP systems and software.
Primary Duties Include:
· Has “dotted line” reporting responsibility to the (Process) Engineering Manager, and the HR Director.
· Check and reconcile work orders for completion daily
· Oversee TPM Tricorders and label machines on shop floor
· Training of new employees for understanding plant safety; collecting labor hours and using Tricorders
· Timing of employee labor on new projects by operation
· Monitor, analyze and reconcile the “Problem Rate Sheet”
· Analyze piece rates, reconcile estimated rates, and report findings to Order Entry and Estimating Engineer
· Responsibilities for the Piece Rate System, alleviating transactional ties to Order Entry
· Advance the time-keeper position through continuous improvement within the QMS
· Takes data from daily labor balancing and reports back to COO for daily production meetings
· Full responsibility and control of the Safety Program to eliminate injuries within the plant
· Responsible for enforcement of all safety and OSHA requirements, including annual OSHA Log
· Actively walks the plant floor to ensure best practices in safety, housekeeping, and use of PPE
· Trains new employees in working safely and with understanding company policies
· Disciplines employees when necessary for failure to adhere to safety policies
· Is the company’s First Responder in administering first aid and CPR
· Works with COO to monitor KPI for safety lost time accidents
· Makes appropriate improvements to the safety activities in the plant to reduce work time loss injuries
· Monitors PPE inventories and makes suggestions for improvements
· Is responsible for the safe entry and movement around the plant of all employees and records data accordingly (COVID19)
· Monitors and audits the plant 5S program and reports findings back to Maintenance Manager
· Reconcile payroll with order entry and HR, as it relates to piece rate
· Fills out accident reports and communicates to HR Director and senior management
· Works with HR Director for safety related employee disciplinary activities and filing of related documents
· Supports managers with employee labor balancing as required, and provides timely data to HR Director for payroll
· Monitors new employee usage of Tricorders and filling out work orders with written production data
· Is available to work occasional weekends to provide management support of hourly employees
· Provides feedback to managers on findings related to employee safety, wearing of PPE, and timing of labor on jobs
· Collects inventory counts of overrun metal, BOM, and corrugated materials and reports back to Customer Service Manager
