Position Summary

The Acquisitions and Asset Management Associate intern will work closely with the Acquisitions and Asset Management teams and be responsible for financial modeling, supporting acquisitions and asset management efforts, performing economic and market research, and assisting with project management tasks. The ideal candidate has experience in the real estate field and has strong quantitative, analytical and communications skills. The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter, have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Internship will last approx. 8-10 weeks and be located either in our Santa Monica or San Francisco offices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Underwriting potential acquisitions, including performing due diligence, and conducting market research.
• Financial modeling of cash flows and deal structures.
• Assisting in financial analysis and management of existing assets.
• Participating in meetings with property managers and capital partners.
• Preparing materials for and participating in internal meetings.
• Collecting, analyzing and presenting market information, including recent sales.
• Working with other team members to accomplish tasks under time pressure.

Skills & Competencies

• Graduate school candidate (MBA, MRED D, Law, Policy, etc.)
• Previous experience in quantitative fields including business, finance, IT, or accounting
• Some experience in real estate preferred
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Significant experience with financial modeling
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to present results
• Self-starter and strong work ethic
