JLL is Hiring an ESG & Sustainability Specialist, Asset Management Near Dallas, TX

Job Summary
At JLL we are driving sustainability through everything that we do, across all service lines and job positions. Specifically, we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate, from site selection to zero waste.
The Sustainability / ESG Specialist, Asset Management will work directly with one of our high profile asset management clients to coordinate, facilitate, and oversee the implementation of asset-level sustainability driven projects across the real estate portfolio in the US East Region. This position requires that you be located in Dallas or Chicago per the on-site office requirement (2 days/week in the office is expected).
The property types include office, retail, multi-family residential, and industrial. Reporting to the US Head of Sustainability, this role will support the US Real Estate Team to track the impact of platform sustainability and resilience strategies. These include but are not limited to energy efficiency, water conservation, on-site renewable energy installation, vendor management to achieve building certifications, sustainability projects, and regulatory compliance. This position will require two days per week in the client's office (either in Dallas, TX or Chicago, IL depending on where you are located) and occasional travel.

Duties & Responsibilities
Drive Asset-Level Results:
Assist in the asset-level implementation, tracking, and monitoring of projects and initiatives in alignment of platform sustainability targets, procedures, and processes, ensuring accurate and complete asset-level data collection and continuing performance improvement and keeping internal stakeholders engaged and informed.
Support the refinement of operating and reporting guidelines and procedures as they relate to sustainability for real estate in consort with our contract property managers and industry standards.
Support Data Collection and Verification:
Working with our internal Sustainability Data Team, and through regular communication with contract property managers, help collect and verify property-level utility data leveraging the data to identify and improve the performance of individual properties and incorporate into annual budgeting.
Assist the Head of Sustainability in preparing sustainability-related content for presentations and client requests for information when needed.
Manage Projects / Vendors for Building Certifications:
Support contract property management teams that are pursuing asset-level operational sustainability (re)certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM, Fitwel, WELL, Energy Star) on vendor selection and coordination to achieve certification.
Tasks would include coordinating with external consultants and internal asset managers and regional engineering leads to guide and provide information to the external consultants.
Provide updates to internal stakeholders (e.g. asset and portfolio managers).
Manage Projects/Vendors for Energy/Water Efficiency and Regulatory Compliance:
Assist contract property managers with energy/water auditing, benchmarking (e.g., Energy Star), planning, design, and implementation of various energy/water efficiency measures, including selection of specialist consultant(s) to implement.
Ensure local, state, and federal compliance requirements are met; provide guidance to asset and property management teams as needed.
Monitor and track projects post implementation to ensure goals are met.
Other Sustainability Projects/Initiatives:
Support US Sustainability Team's efforts to identify and mitigate asset-level risks, including physical/disaster risks, for potential acquisitions, developments, and assets under management.
Support other asset-level sustainability projects and initiatives, including onsite solar and EV charger installation.
Support the implementation of platform-level other asset-level sustainability projects and initiatives across properties, including onsite solar and EV charger installation.

US Head of Sustainability
Works with
US Head of Sustainability, US West Sustainability Specialist, Sustainability Data Analysts, Regional Engineering Leads (East, Midwest, and West), Asset Managers, Property Specialists, and Contract Property Management teams. Interface with the Global Sustainability Team to share best practices and collaborate on EU-owned properties in the US.
Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in architectural, civil or mechanical engineering, architecture, construction management, environmental science, or related field.
3-5 years' experience working in engineering, architecture, construction management, or environmental field
1-3 years of relevant experience in institutional real estate and sustainability
Required Skills
Excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills
Understand how buildings work
Familiar with real estate sustainability best practices, certifications, and frameworks, e.g. energy and water efficiency, LEED, BREEAM, GRESB
Able to quickly learn to use ESG data management systems
Able to analyze and understand how asset-level data relates to building performance and sustainability
