Jim's Gym is Hiring a Boxing Instructor Near Elmira, NY

  • Know how to teach, coach, demonstrate exercises including heavy bag, speed bag, double end bag, jump rope, mitt work and other general boxing techniques.
  • Able to scale and modify a workout in the moment for a clients individual needs based off of injury, pain and goals.
  • Body positive language and approach toward fitness and health
  • Empathy, reading clients needs and style
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Multi-taking: being able to work with multiple clients at the same time with different needs and workouts
  • Seeing movement faults and correcting them with verbal, visual and tactile cueing
  • Knowledge or experience with working with injured, elderly, deconditioned clients as well as athletic and experienced clients
  • Charismatic, confident and professional
  • Able to work both 1:1 and semi-private clients, engage with them , create relationships,
  • Sales skills (nice to have)
  • Organizational skills, cleanliness — keep space organized/safe/
  • Coordinate multiple client workouts simultaneously with an eye toward efficiency and safety

Boxing Fitness Coach

Jim’s Gym, located in Elmira, New York, is seeking a highly polished and professional personal trainer to join our team. The position is part time with the potential to move to full time for the right person, and compensation is very competitive being between $20 and $40 per hour.

Our thriving training studio engages clients in both one-on-one, group training and small group training, using the tenets of fitness to help our clients improve their overall health and well-being.

Our Team is small, deeply educated, and passionate about assisting our clients. We are seeking an individual who is similarly knowledgeable and motivated to make a difference for clients of all backgrounds, ages, and needs — from the most deconditioned to the most athletic.

About You:

  • You are an accomplished professional in the personal training and/or group fitness
  • You have deep knowledge of barbell, dumbbell, and bodyweight movements, alongside a strong formal and informal education in the principles underlying physical development.
  • You are to follow pre-existing programming and templates without objection.
  • You are excellent at observing and correcting movement faults through verbal, tactile, and demonstrative cuing.
  • You are able to work with clients in both one-on-one and group settings, coordinating multiple disparate workouts efficiently and safely in a small space.
  • Your demeanor is empathetic, friendly, and positive, with highly-developed emotional intelligence.
  • You are able to motivate clients and keep them accountable, using process goals rather than outcome goals..
  • You have familiarity with nutritional principles underlying body composition change, and can communicate the same simply and concisely.

Requirements:

3-5 years of experience working with clients one-on-one or a group environment

  • Current certification(s) from nationally-accredited training organizations such as ACSM, NASM, ACE and/or ISSA
  • Current CPR and AED certification

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
