POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Metals and Fabrication Training Specialist will plan, conduct, and administer programs that train employees to improve their skills and knowledge in the field of welding, fabrication, processing equipment, technologies, and the like for JGM facilities and construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assess the training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, discussions with managers, etc.
• Design and create training manuals, learning modules, and other course materials for a variety of topics including but not limited to: Cobot, Sub arc, Automated welding equipment, fitting, welding, blueprint reading, forklifts, overhead cranes, other shop equipment.
• Review other training materials from additional sources and choose any appropriate materials.
• Deliver training to employees using a variety of instructional techniques.
• Develop and implement an evaluation process to determine the effectiveness of the training.
• Perform administrative functions to monitor costs, schedule classes, coordinate enrollments, etc.
• Work closely with HR to maintain accurate and timely documentation for use in securing training funds.
• Attend job fairs, career days, and other recruiting opportunities to promote JGM and develop the pipeline for future employees.
• Improve safe working conditions through training, observation, and suggesting process improvements.
• Travel to field jobsites as needed to provide technical support for welding operations.
• Participate in Lean Production initiatives.
• Have the knowledge or ability to learn standard NDT processes including VT, MT, PT, UT & RT.
• Develop, execute, and train on PQR’s and WPS including the development of weld design optimization.
• Lead all weld testing for shop and field personnel.
• Maintain records and take responsibility for equipment calibration.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma
• 10 years of previous instructional experience
• 10 years of previous fabrication/welding experience
• Knowledgeable in FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW & GTAW
• Knowledge of qualification/testing processes per AWS D1.1 & D1.5 codes
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with precision.
• Basic math, including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• This position will be reporting 50% of the time to each of our shop locations in: Coatesville, PA & Sinking Spring, PA
• Some light travel ( /- 10%) to our remote construction sites.
