Jewish Home of Rochester is Hiring a Program Assistant - Per Diem Marian's House Near Rochester, NY

Program Assistant, Marian's House-Per Diem, M-F availability needed, 9:00 am-4:00 pm

Pay Rate: $15.60 per hour

GENERAL SCOPE: Assists guest with activities, dietary, housekeeping, medication reminders and other related functions as assigned by the House Manager. May provide assistance with personal care.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION: Must have High School diploma or GED. Must be fluent in English and have adequate written and verbal communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with housekeeping duties to maintain standards of sanitation by dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and removing trash.
  • Completes laundry tasks.
  • Conducts planned as well as spontaneous activities with guests to encourage and promote utilization of guests remaining strength and promote the highest level of guest functioning.
  • Plans, prepares and serves meals and snacks in collaboration with House Manager.
  • Assists Member during meals as needed.
  • Provides medication reminders.
  • Reports any changes in behavior or unusual incidents to House Manager.
  • Assists House Manager with creation and maintenance of service plans.
  • Completes annual education requirements.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Responsive to guest needs and preferences.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information.
  • Treat all guests with dignity and respect.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner in accordance with our established policies and procedures.
  • Other job duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience as working with the elderly. Experience working with individuals with dementia desirable.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Sits 50-75% of the day. May be required to lift (and/or move) 10-30 pounds. Most frequently lifts 10-15 pounds. Occasional walking, stooping, squatting and bending. Repetitive hand/wrist movement. Physical work intensity is Level 2.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in well-lighted, well ventilated program area.

ADVERSE WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to infections, disease and disagreeable odors.

May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members and visitors.
