Family Connections Consultant: hourly range of $22.00-$24.00/hour
Family Consultants in the Family Connections program at JFCS will help foster therapeutic relationships with families that have been identified by the Department of Child Safety to require support in the areas of family functioning, social support, child well-being, managing parenting stress, parenting attitudes/behaviors, and family resources.
Nurturing Parenting Practitioner: hourly range of $19.00-$21.00/hour
Family Consultants in the Nurturing Parenting Program provide home-based and community-based services in Maricopa and Pinal Counties to families referred by the Department of Child Safety (DCS). Our consultants work with these families to promote positive parenting ideas and techniques.
Positive Parenting Practitioner: hourly range of $22.00-$24.00/hour
Family Consultants in the Positive Parenting Program help foster therapeutic relationships with families that have been identified by the Department of Child Safety (DCS) to require support in the areas of family functioning, social support, and overall child wellbeing. The Triple P Family Consultant provides services to adoptive parents or to placement caregivers who are needing assistance managing behaviors and the emotional needs of a child/teen in their care.
Duties include:
  • Provide home-based and community-based services in Maricopa & Pinal Counties to families referred by the Department of Child Safety (DCS) to participate in the respective program.
  • Attend in-depth training provided by DCS to help families identify strengths and areas of need, empower families toward solutions, and alleviate the reasons for DCS involvement.
  • Provide direct service to program participants, including outreach and engagement, assessment, personalized service planning, tailored interventions based on assessment and the service plan, coordination of care, and collaboration with DCS & other involved services.
  • Conduct home visits once or twice per week at times that are convenient for the family, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Observe the children in the home once per week and report any suspected child abuse or neglect to DCS.
  • Promote positive parenting skills and recommend referrals to the Nurturing Parenting Program, or other parenting programs that meet the needs of the family.
  • Guide families in obtaining needed resources (i.e. housing, counseling, Title XIX or XXI services).
  • Communicate directly and regularly with DCS Specialists and outside agencies regarding participants’ needs and progress.
Position Indicators:
  • Working knowledge of the child welfare system.
  • Familiarity with skill building, psycho-educational work, and motivational interviewing.
  • Knowledge of techniques and approaches to identify the family’s underlying, unmet needs and can differentiate needs from services.
  • Ability to adjust the schedule to the needs of the client, which may include working some evenings or weekends.
  • Completing all appropriate documentation of any and all communication with and regarding the family in a timely manner.
  • Participates in regular staff meetings and training as required by JFCS and our contractual obligations with the Department of Child Safety.
Qualifications:
  • Family Connections and Positive Parenting: Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field.
  • Nurturing Parenting Practitioner: Associate Degree in human services or related field; a minimum of 2 years' related work experience may substitute.
  • One year of social-services work experience is required.
  • Familiarity with the child welfare system is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with children and families is strongly preferred.
  • Experience performing skill-building and psycho-educational work is strongly preferred.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card without restriction(s).
  • A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required.
  • Valid Arizona Auto Insurance with appropriate liability limits to meet contractual obligations.
  • MVR Report that meets JFCS criteria for driving positions.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screens.
