Job Title: Director, Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation

Program: Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHCN)

Reports to: Division Director: Center for Early Relationship Support (CERS)


Position Summary:

The Director of Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation will lead the development and implementation of Mental Health Consultation in early education and care sites, including consultation, professional development and training, and reflective practice and support. The Director will expand both our outreach and our offerings to meet expanding demand- building our partnerships and our revenue base as well as enhancing our clinical models and overseeing our team of expert consultants. This position reports to the Division Director for the Center for Early Relationship Support (CERS) and is a member of the CERS Leadership team.

The Director is responsible for initiating, maintaining and guiding the implementation of all programming with affiliated partner organizations and other related external relationships. Program reporting is required in collaboration with JF&CS departments. The Director works with the CERS Division Director to align all activities with the CERS vision, mission, and goals.


About ECMHC

The Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation team (ECMHC) provides consultation and training services to early education and care program teams, including leadership and classroom/direct care staff, to support the social and emotional health of children. An essential element of this work involves the implementation of the Circle of Security as the framework for intervention. Our staff collaborate with early childhood educators to reflect on their observations of individual children and their whole classroom, and to process how past and present realities, cultural background and families of origin influence emotions and resilience in the classroom.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Generation and maintenance of professional partnerships, including development of new business opportunities with community partners through proposal and grant preparation.
  • Leadership and management of all elements of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation services for CERS, including assignment of staff to sites, determination of services for contracts, and oversight of all activities.
  • Supervision and leadership for I/ECMHC staff.
  • Budget development and management, including business development and building sustainable service models.
  • Participation in JF&CS and CERS Leadership meetings.
  • Oversight of related Training/Professional Development activities.
  • Oversight of the evaluation and quality improvement of services.
  • Collaboration with agency departments and confirmation that all activities meet agency policies.


Position Highlights & Benefits:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Annual salary range: $77,000 - $79,000.
  • Can offer a hybrid schedule, requiring in-person participation in weekly meetings and travel to sites for service provision, planning meetings, and supervision of staff.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in a mental health or education discipline plus 5 years relevant experience
    • At least 5 years of experience in program management.
    • Understanding of child development and early education, including direct experience working with young children.
    • At least 2 years experience engaging in reflective supervision.
    • Requires reliable transportation/commuting abilities to community sites in the Greater Boston area and the Waltham office for required in-person meetings.
    • Must demonstrate an ability to work independently.
    • Must be mature, flexible and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience working with diverse communities and commitment to the values of equity and inclusion.
    • Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational and management skills.
    • Computer skills required in Microsoft Office and other programs as required by the position as well as the ability to learn and oversee new technology as needed.
